The Aaron Koppel Quartet is finishing up recording their 3rd album, Multiverse, for the Chicago jazz label, Chicago Sessions. AKQ infuses the styles of jazz, soul, Latin, R&B, and funk, creating a unique bop-driven force that can only be described as what it is: another new exit off the highway of jazz. Over the years Koppel has established a name for himself. WGN-TV National Mid-day News quotes him as having a"huge following in the local jazz scene and also garnered national recognition." Koppel has been nominated for and won several awards including #7 in Neil Tesser’s Top Ten Chicago Jazz Discs of 2009 for Aaron Koppel Quartet’s album, Falling Together Falling Apart. The Aaron Koppel Quartet was nominated for the 2009 Grammy nominating ballot for Best Instrumental Jazz Album and Koppel received an outstanding performance award at The 49th Annual Collegiate Jazz Fest. AKQ were also nominated for two International jazz awards: Best International Jazz Song and Best International Jazz Group, in the 2007 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards. Koppel has performed and/or recorded with: Tim Warfield, Matthew Santos, vocalist: Lupe Fiasco, Christopher Lloyd, actor: Taxi, Back to the Future, Vince Welnick, keyboardist/vocalist: Grateful Dead, Frank Catalano Kris Myers, drummer: Umphrey's McGee, Chris Siebold, Greg Ward, Geof Bradfield, and many others. Koppel has performed at numerous venues and festivals throughout the Midwest including: The Green Mill, The Jazz Showcase, Andy’s Jazz Club, Martyrs, Hot House, Kinetic Playground, Abbey Pub, Woodstock Jazz Festival, 2nd Annual South side 79th Street Festival, Champaign Downtown Streetfest, and Iowa's River Roots Festival.
